About GSF

Welcome to the Golden State Flycasters. The GSF was formed in 2002 to serve the interests of fly fishers in north San Diego County, South Orange County, and Camp Pendleton. The Golden State Flycasters was incorporated in 2002. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.

Mission Statement

Golden State Flycasters supports the conservation and restoration of fisheries, and education in the sport and art of fly fishing.

Membership

Membership is open to all who want to participate and share our objectives. We welcome men, women and kids. Prospective members are welcome to attend any of our regular meetings before deciding on membership. We offer individual and family memberships–the fees for each and an application can be found on the Membership page of the website. We invite you to become a member of GSF, and begin enjoying the many benefits of the club. For a limited time, we are also offering Golden Charter Memberships for those with a special commitment to the success of this exciting new club.

Monthly Meetings

The club meets monthly, except August. The meetings start with wetflies at 6:00 pm, followed by dinner at 6:45 pm, and the program at 7:30 pm. The month of August is set aside for fishing.

The meetings are held at Tio Leo's Mexican Restaurant, 3510 Valley Centre Drive

Communications

GSF also communicates with its members through the Internet through its full-color, monthly newsletter is e-mailed to members as an easily downloading Adobe Acrobat file. The newsletter includes details of that month’s program, up-to-the-minute announcements of trips and activities, feature articles, and other topics of timely interest. For those without Internet access, a newsletter can be mailed at an additional fee. In addition to the newsletter, basic information about the club is presented on this website.

Conservation

GSF supports conservation and restoration of local, statewide, and other fisheries. including: fund raising and contributions to specific activities and organizations who are also working to this end, and for work in the field by our members. GSF is an affiliate club of the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF), and has members of Trout Unlimited (TU), Cal Trout, and the Southern California Steelhead Recovery Coalition.

Annual Raffle

In March, the club has a raffle/opportunity drawing and auction in place of its monthly speaker; This event is the primary source of funding GSF’s activities, including its charitable contributions. The Annual Raffle/Auction is open to anyone who wishes to participate.

Trips & Outings

There are also club fishing trips to locations in: California, Alaska, other Western States, Mexico, and other locations. Refer to the Trips page for descriptions of upcoming trips and who to contact for sign-ups.
