This is one of the top three tailwater fisheries in the West, with 15,000-20,000 fish per mile; and an excellent river for wade fishing as well as fishing from a drift boat. It is also an excellent river for novice and experienced fly fishers alike.
 
We will fly into Albuquerque, NM on Monday, August 6, and drive directly to Navajo Dam; return on Saturday, August 11. GSF will arrange for the guides, reserve automobiles, help put you with a roommate (if desired), and arrange for group dinners. You will make reservations and directly pay for your room and air travel, and pay for all auto rentals, gas, meals and other expenses. The rest of the details are below:
?     Depart--Monday, August, 6, Southwest Airlines, Flight 1461, to ABQ. Make reservations ASAP to get the best rates.
?     Return--Saturday, August 11, Southwest Airlines, Flight 530, to SD
?     Lodging--Recommend Abe’s Motel (budget) (www.sanjuanriver.com, 505-632-2194), or Soaring Eagle Lodge (more upscale & expensive) (www.soaringeaglelodge.net, 800-866-2719). Make reservations ASAP.
?     Guides--Tell Byron Shovlain what dates you want wading ($325/day for two) or drift boat guide ($340/day for two). Guide fees include flies and lunch. It is strongly suggested to have a guide on at least the first day of fishing.
?     Meals--On your own, except for one or two group dinners organized by GSF (paid for by individuals).

?     Budget—Staying at Abe’s Motel, $920; staying at Soaring Eagle Lodge, $1,450. All are PP/DO. Includes airfare, lodging, meals, rental car and gas, and sharing guide for one day.
